1979 Jeep CJ description
8,900actual miles, no rust !never drive in winter, one of a kind !
This is true survivor, a one of a kind. This 1979 Jeep CJ-7 was bought new by the Harrison Township FD.The Jeep was ordered with no top ( note the factory plugs in the door hinge mounting holes ) and a V8 3- speed manual trans and full time hubs.Somewhere along the line they decided they wanted a 4-speed and the 3-speed was swapped out. Other than the transmission swap the mechanics of the jeep is all original with only 8900 miles on it. The minute you drive this jeep the first mile you will realize that the miles are correct. It’s like going back in time.
The jeep retains pretty much all its original paint, there are a few little dents and stains but again this jeep spent its life in a Fire Department with a bunch of bored Firemen, not a Museum !I say this because please note that the floor has been brush painted insidefor what reason who knows, but all these little quirks just add to this jeeps unique history.
This jeep was out fitted with a front mount pump, note in Pictures the sleeve put in the radiator to allow for PTO shaft to go through radiator. There was a 2 inch pipe that ran from pipe to a tank mounted where back seat is. After the jeep was taken out of service it was mainly a parade vehicle then sold. The tires on it have a date code indicating 1983and they still have the red markings in the tread and do not appear to be dry rotted.I had a set of chrome spoke wheels with slightly larger tires that are not included but they really set this jeep off. I have taken this jeep to many shows and Sunday drives and where ever it goes it gets attention.
Keep in mind that with enough money you can buy any number of restored jeeps that have bodies from the Philippines that have been shipped here and reworked. They have lots of other mail order parts but they are just that, a restored jeep. This thing is the real deal, you don’t have to make excuses, its unique, It has a history and no amount of money can turn back the clock and build you one of these.
This Jeep is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. Please ask a question if you have any concerns . This is a unrestored 38 year old jeep.
AgainThe picture of the jeep with the Chrome Wheels and Tires are to show what this jeep looks like with custom wheels. THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE.
