1965 Ford Mustang A-Code description

Please read all the following before emailing with any questions:

- stock 289 V8, 3-speed manual, standard interior (apart currently)
- A-code fastback, not a K-code or hi-po model
- a 2nd owner car!
- current location of vehicle: Woodland Hills, CA (Los Angeles county)
- NOT driveable currently...read on...
- selling with Shelby GT350 fiberglass hood, Shelby GT350R model fiberglass front apron (both not attached to the car)
- new Baer Racing 13.25" front 2-piece disc brakes, 12" disc brakes in rear (new in boxes still)
- new Total Control products front suspension kit, which is far superior to stock Ford suspension (new in boxes)
- this car was purchased from Galpin Ford (in Los Angeles) when new, and it has been in Los Angeles and Westlake Village, California its entire life.

- was garaged for since 1988 from prior owner (and maybe even before 1988...not sure). It has been in a garage or under a car cover under my ownership since I purchased in 1996.

- needs restoration. I bought in 1996 in its current state and have not restored or worked on the car in any way. Original owner started a restoration 8 years prior to my purchase, yet never finished it.

- Last year car was driven was 1988! (besides me driving it home)
- I bought it as a "restomod" project and started accumulating parts for the project (see list of aftermarket parts below)
- light surface rust in places. Only rust spot needing repair is the passenger footwell from a prior heater core leak hidden beneath the carpet, a common Mustang issue.
- this is a Southern California car not parked near the ocean, so no bad rust anywhere.
- I believe all sheet metal is original. Prior owner said car was never in an accident. While in my driveway (under the cover) my neighbor backed into the driver's side rear quarter panel and put a dent in it, though it is very fixable.
- prior owner claims the original 289 was rebuilt in 1988 when he began his restoration. Since he never finished the car, the rebuild has very few miles on it (probably less than 500 miles). I drove the car twice, and the engine ran fine (I haven't driven it since 1997). Though the car is an A-code (supposed to have a 4 barrel carburetor), it has a 2-barrel on the engine now. I'm not sure why, never checked when I bought it as I wasn't going to keep the stock 289 anyway.
- all of the interior pieces are loose, not installed. Standard green interior (non Pony interior). I assume all of the major pieces are there, though some may be missing.
- needs bumpers and gauges. Odometer not installed. Not sure how many miles are on the car (though has been off highway since 1988)
- in a nutshell, this is a perfect project car, a very clean base to start from. In rare condition from a car so old. A local Mustang shop owner came by to see it (he is keeping it in mind for his clients looking for a Fastback), and he was surprised to find a car as clean with as good "bones" as this one.
- this car is for sale currently on Craigslist and I shared the information with local SoCal Mustang shops, so I reserve the right to sell it before the end of the eBay auction if I get a good local offer.
- I am not interested in trades.

- see pictures and more details of the car at:

I am selling the Fastback as a PACKAGE with all of the following aftermarket pieces listed below (I am not selling the parts separately)

1 - Maier racing fiberglass GT350 hood ($599 new):

My hood uses fiberglass reinforcing in the inner, not billet aluminum. Hood not currently installed.

2 - Maier racing fiberglass front apron ($499 new):

3 -Total Control front suspension: (about $2500)

This is a vastly superior suspension system that allows the front A-arms to be dropped (like was done on a Shelby) without binding the ball-joints

Article on a car that received this suspension: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uyfsybwk0gubpzs/Mustang%20Fastback%20Restomod%20427%20-%20Total%20Control%20suspension.docx?dl=0

4 -Baer Racing brakes (worth around $3,000 new)

Not this exact kit though, see scanned receipt of the kit in the dropbox folder:

The kit being sold with this car uses PBR calipers, not ones shown at the links above. The rotors are 13.25” 2-piece in the front and 12” in the rear. Brake pads are commonly available for the PBR calipers. See the scan article on why Baer likes PBR calipers. No parking brake on the rear. This is a VERY powerful braking system!

5 - Vintage wheel works Vintage 45 16x8 wheels (paid $895 for the set new):

Note: one wheel will need to be polished/restored, as it is installed on the car and has been exposed to weather

6 -Ford Export Brace

Strengthens engine compartment area

7 -Tubular Automotive 351 Cleveland conversion headers (if you want...these are a “freebie” with the car). I am not attributing a value to these in the auction cost, you can have if you want. These headers allow a 289 to 351 Cleveland engine swap in a 1965/1966 Mustang
