1956 FORD F100 PICKUP TRUCK
This is a great truck for a restoration. The '56 ford bodystyle is one of the best, if not thee best looking classic ford pickup. This would look good restored to original, rodded, ratted, pro-tour, or retro kustom. It is very original and has very little rust. I will detail the rust below but it is minor. This truck is dry. The body is original with original paint. No bondo or filler. It is complete with the exception of the original hubcaps. The longbox is a rarer truck to find and they look good restored, rodded, or converted to 4x4’s. They longboxes look better with taller tires in my opinion. You can shorten the box and frame on these trucks though, if you prefer the shortbox. Kits are also sold to convert this truck to a big back window too, if that's what you prefer. The conversion does not look very difficult either. This year of ford is one of the most popular years of classic fords for restoration. Tons of restoration parts are available, including performance suspension pieces or complete aftermarket performance chassis'. It's makes it easy to convert these trucks to have quality disc brakes, power steering, independent front suspension, better ride, auto transmission, and chevrolet drive train (if you not a ford purist). The original drivetrain I know is fine for some people, but there are many options out there for the 56 fords. Below are all the details on the truck. I have a link with more pics I can send also. This truck has the y-block V8 with 4-speed manual. Everything mechanically looks original. The motor runs nice and does not smoke, tick, or knock. There is no water in the oil or anything abnormal like that. The transmission works fine and all gears work. The clutch works properly. No large dripping leaks. It is not a “driver” right now but it won’t take much to get it to that point, but does need some work. The brakes don’t work. They could just need some fluid and bled. I’m not sure. The truck doesn’t start well when cold. I think the accelerator pump on the carb either isn’t working, or the choke isn’t working correctly. You need to prime it when cold. When warm, it will start without priming. The tires actually look pretty good and I think they are usable if your going low budget. The exhaust may need work but it's not overly loud. I didn't look the exhaust over well, so I'm not sure. I know it would be cooler with dual exhaust though. I’m sure the fluids need changed. Some people may choose to do the belts, hoses, plug wires, etc. etc. but some of that is not necessary now. It is probably a good idea though if you intend on driving it very far. The truck is running off the original tank so the fuel system should be fine. I have not driven it at highway speeds. I can't say for sure how the front-end is on the highway but it's a straight axle and cheap/easy to rebuild/repairif needed. I didn't notice any clunking or any obvious loose parts in the frontend.
The body is original, dry, and is in good shape for a restoration. It's 99.999% rust free, approximately. It is mostly straight, but the rear drivers fender was caught and torn on the bottom corner. It will be easy to weld that piece back into place. The fender piece is still there, but may be hard to see in the pics. The body is nearly rust free but does have a couple small spots to fix. The passenger cab corner has the usual rust. Pretty minor for a 56, but still needs fixed. The drivers side is just starting in that area also but is very minor. You can't see it but it does have pinhole rust. It will need the corner patch to fix it right. Besides the corners, the only other rust is a little on the top of each running board. This is minor and looks like an easy repair. The floors are very nice. Frame, hood, box, fenders, roof, jams, firewall, inner fenders, etc. etc. are solid. Any rust you see in the floor pics is not rust-through. It’s surface pitting, dirt, or the factory floor glue stuff that was under the floormat before they took it out. The windshield is broke. I’m sure all the glass is available for these trucks and relatively inexpensive. Overall it's a real solid body.
The interior is original and pretty basic. There is no carpet or floormat. The seat needs redone. The gauge/dash area is mostly un-modified, in good condition. It looks to be radio delete. The pics tell the story pretty much. This other shifter on the floor is for a PTO. There is a pulley by the rear bumper still and the pto most likely still works.
This is a solid old farm truck that looks to have been used lightly, in comparison to most old farm trucks. It’s a neat old ford that you could drive as-is with a little work, or restore. Thanks, and happy bidding. Sold as-is
