1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS L78 description
Listing a very rare, very real project. This is a true RS, L78 car that was factory rally green with deluxe black interior. 69 Camaro L78s are much more rare than 69 Zs and being an RS as well makes it that much more rare. Throw in a desirable color and interior combo makes for this to be one special car when finished. Yes, it is a project, but the important stuff is here. Please read this entire ad before bombarding me with questions.
The history I know on the car: I have the NCRS shipping report showing delivered to Economy Chevrolet in Ellwood City PA. I purchased it in Eastern PA. I bought it from an antique dealer who had purchased a large storage unit with this car, parts, and several high dollar antiques in it. I was told the items had been in the unit since 1975. The gentleman I bought it from was mainly interested in the antiques and knew nothing of classic cars. When he went to apply for a title for the car he told the PA bmv it was in pieces, the bmv worker and the gentleman both not knowing any better printed a rebuilt title. Because it was a project and needed rebuilt lol. The car has no signs of EVER being wrecked, but it does not have a clean title. I also have copies of the ad when I purchased the car and its VERY apparent he was not a car guy. The dog house was and still is off, but the original tach has not been removed, trim tag never been removed, I have the original L78 fuel line, and pics before it was removed. It has vacuum on the firewall for cowl hood and RS and the RS tail pan is original. X2 on bulkhead, etc. I have NO paperwork for the car other than ncrs, but anyone that knows anything about 69 Camaros can easily tell what it is. It was a factory cowl hood, no spoilers car with tach, gauges, console, wood grain package.
Parts and Dates:I don't have every nut and bolt for the car, but I have the import stuff. There are thousands and thousands of dollars of rare parts alone if counted separately included, some of which are:1) Standard bore 71 CE warranty block, 4 bolt main, real stamp2) 6223 L78 crank3) L78 pistons and dimple rods4) 1111499 9 M 12 dist, early but real and a known date
5)4346 holley dated 953, real stamp (alittle hard to read)6) Real 69 RS wiper motor (have you priced these lately?)7) Beautiful set of bare 840 heads dated E169 and E7698)The original M21 Muncie, vin stamped to the car, real stamp9) 12 Bolt rear end BT 0529, real stamp I do not have a starter or a 837 alternator. The majority of the parts are from May. Seams alittle early for a Sept built, but late cars had a mixed bag of dates, May is the latest 840 heads where made which is the head used on Camaro L78s, and L78s were not nearly as common as Zs.
Other parts included are:
1) A complete, redone set of black houndstooth seats. Yes, it did originally come with black deluxe but Ive always loved houndstooth, they use the same door panels etc, and I had no intentions on selling the car.2) A new in box curved neck radiator from Heartbeat. These aren't cheap!3) Original subframe, front disc brakes, steering box (manual)4) A new wood grain, standard steering wheel5) A console core. I do not have gauges. This car did come with console, gauges originally. A very well option car for a L786) 3 very nice coded rally wheels. Only 3. I somehow lost the 4th.7) A nice Cowl hood8) Brand new amd fenders with extensions9) A new dash panel, a piece I haven't replaced because I didn't want to remove gauges etc until Jerry M came to certify, which I'm still waiting.10) Original steering column11) Side and rear glass. I do not have the windshield still12) A very nice set a GM deluxe front door panels. I do not have the rears13) AM radio14) legendary black vinyl top15) Nos core support16) Inner fenders17) RS headlights18) Original wiring19) A few boxes of bolts, misc stuff that was on or came with the car20) Original fuel tank and fuel lines that were on the car21) Original 4 speed peddles22) New BB front springs, original rear leaf springsIf there are any other items I can think of I will ad them to the ad, but please only assume it comes with what I have listed and that there will be pieces missing. It is not a 100 pct complete project, but as you can see a lot of the important stuff is there.
What has been done so far: I had full amd quarters put on, a trunk pan and both floor halves. I didn't wanna do full floors because the tunnel was good, and I didn't wanna mess with the original 4 speed hole. As I said earlier, the dash panel still needs replaced as there is rust at the bottom. Like ALOT of 69 Camaros. The work that has been done has been roughed in and will need finished off during the body work phase. The frame rails etc were good. This wasn't a rust bucket like most Camaro projects, just the typical areas. I have plenty of pics before panels were cut.
The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs for moving the car and its parts. It is currently on a rotisserie which is not included. If sold, I will discuss with the buyer a way to move/ load. I can help load. Does not run or roll and there are lots of loose parts obviously, so this is something trucking services are not going to be able to pick up so please keep that in mind before bidding. Also please don't bid unless you plan to pay according to the auction terms. I will be happy to show the car DURING the course of the auction.
This is a total project and is being sold AS IS, where is. No guarantees whatsoever. Mileage is exempt and not actual. Title is salvage and rebuilt. A NON Refundable deposit via paypal in the amount of $500 within 24 hours after the end of the auction. No excuses. If you are a real buyer you will have no problem with this., I don't and I buy a lot more than I sell on here. I added of couple more pics. There are several boxes of loose parts. I also have the original BB cross member, and front and rear bumpers (cores). The dash wiring is still in tact. All the front wiring is in a box. There are several new, small parts included. Yes, it is a project but try finding another RS L78 that's not already been built, fluffed over and more than likely not real.
