Chevrolet's Nomad, a 6-passenger 2-door "sport" wagons were not built in great numbers (just over 8100 for 1956) especially in comparison to 1,673,376 total Chevrolet's built for the 1956 model year. Few were ordered in Onyx Black with the 265 4bbl. V8 & 3-Speed Manual Transmission with Overdrive. More than half of the 1956 Chevrolet Nomad's were ordered with a 6 cylinder engine. This is a very unique collector Chevy. Enjoy the presentation and feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions.

The exterior wears what is believed to be original Onyx Black paint throughout. The finish is polished and worn through in areas, there is also checking present throughout several areas on close inspection. This is an honest old car with plenty of patina, obviously cared for over the years. It has had a host of mechanical work done. In 2002, the 265 V8 engine was last overhauled. Recent (2016) work performed includes the carburetor overhauled & radiator re-cored.
All of the rare brightwork / stainless is intact throughout this rare BelAir Nomad.
Open the doors to 1956. The interior showcases the correct Charcoal & Yellow interior upholstery front to back.
The upholstery is the correct charcoal & yellow, front to back. Seat belts have been added.
Factory 3-speed manual transmission with Overdrive, a very unusual option.
The dash displays the original instruments (66,460 miles believed original) along with an updated AM/FM cassette stereo. The dash trim remains intact throughout as do the signature stainless headliner bows front to back, even the original clock. The window glass has been tinted at some time along the side windows.
The liftgate operates correctly. The tailgate is solid and rear area in very good condition. We have a number of spare parts that will be included with the sale of this Nomad.
Under the hood is the correct 265 cubic inch 4bbl. V8 - block casting # 3720991. In 2016, the carburetor was rebuilt, spark plugs & wires changed, and a general clean-up and tune. The intake casting # is 3737109, 1956 4bbl. intake. The engine last underwent a major overhaul in May of 2002. Most recent work, 2016-7, the carburetor was rebuilt, plugs & wires installed, and the rear main oil seal was replaced. Also the radiator was re-cored with verifying receipt.
The original firewall identification plate is in place and legible. Research shows this to be car 3,081 of approximately 7,886 Nomad's sold 1956. The factory color combination is Onyx Black with Charcoal & Yellow interior. All Chevrolet Nomad bodies were built in Cleveland, Ohio and assembled in Atlanta, Georgia.
The undercarriage appears to be exceptionally solid front to back.
